Charity launches new video to promote how it is #HelpingCroydon
The Whitgift Foundation has released a video to raise awareness of its work, emphasising its schools, support for carers, and jobs in the local area. The video can be viewed here.
The Whitgift Foundation has launched a new video as part of its #HelpingCroydon campaign to raise awareness of the charity’s work by showcasing how it helps thousands of people in the Croydon community every day.
As one of Croydon’s longest established charities, the Foundation helps people from all walks of life through its care services for older people, support for the borough’s carers and a £5 million a year bursary scheme available to students at its three leading independent schools.
Produced by Affixxius Films, the video tells the stories of a few people who the charity has helped demonstrating how easily they can be linked together – they could all be waiting at a tram stop and not know how significantly The Whitgift Foundation has helped the person standing next to them.
“We’re here to help. More often than you think” is the line given at the end of the video, letting the people of Croydon know that The Whitgift Foundation, in one way or another, is there to help someone you know, or may not know.
The Foundation’s bursary scheme is the second largest in the UK, where around 1,500 students at Whitgift, Trinity and Old Palace of John Whitgift Schools receive financial support towards their school fees providing life changing opportunities for children and young people.
The Carers Support Centre in George Street is a lifeline to thousands of carers who visit to find practical help, training and advice, but also to take part in the many social activities on offer to take a break from their caring role.
Whitgift Care creates warm and caring communities for older people and has been tackling loneliness by launching a new Day Care service, the 1596 Club, at its Croydon care homes Whitgift House and Wilhelmina House.
Croydon’s prominent landmarks feature in the film including the Town Hall, Surrey Street Market and the Foundation’s Whitgift Almshouses, as well as the iconic trams, with thanks to London Trams who have supported in the production of the video.
Martin Corney, Chief Executive, The Whitgift Foundation, said: “With thousands of carers in Croydon, older people who are living alone or who are isolated and talented young people who would benefit from a Whitgift Foundation education, we have produced this video to raise awareness and give local people a better understanding of our work.
“We are proud to be part of the Croydon community and to be able help so many people across the generations from one to 100 years old, and from many different social backgrounds and circumstances, which we have been doing for more than 400 years.
