11 big name shops which everyone wants to come to Croydon
Croydon already boasts an impressive array of shops – but most of us wouldn’t say no to some new exciting additions. We always want more!
With the highly-anticipated £1.4 billion Westfield shopping centre yet to get underway, the town centre feels as though it is in limbo . It is now hoped building work will begin in early 2020 and, all being well, it is set to be finished in 2023.
While we wait to find out what shops will join Marks & Spencer and John Lewis , with a Waitrose on the ground floor, as part of Westfield Croydon we asked readers on our Facebook page what shops they would like to see open in the borough.
From Wilko to Apple Store, there are plenty of big name brands which we don’t currently have in Croydon and think they really should open in the borough.
Below is a list of 11 stores which were most commonly mentioned:
Attracting more than 3,000,000 shoppers a week, the chain offers discounted brands at good prices. All under one roof you can buy food and drink, garden products, clothes, furniture, toys, gifts and anything else you could possibly need in your life.
The chain’s tagline is that is sells “top brands at bottom prices” and is a goldmine of treats for both adults and kids as they have everything from health and beauty products, to wallpaper, homeware, toys, games and more. How come Redhill has one, but we don’t?!
Why doesn’t Croydon have one of these shops already? The discount store sells top branded products for a lower price meaning customers get good value for money on their shopping. They sell everything from kids toys, to DIY, garden items, homeware, food, pet products, electronics and much more.
Okay, so this is a more of an up-market chocolate shop. But they are a saviour when it comes to needing to buy a quick luxury present (or a personal treat) – meaning the chocolatiers are so convenient to have around… and delicious.
Currently, the closest store is in Bromley, which isn’t too far, but wouldn’t you love to have the hub for all things Apple on your doorstep? You could ogle the latest technology and also get technical support for your current devices without all the travelling hassle.
Injecting a bit of Disney into Croydon would be welcomed by most. Now that Disney owns the Star Wars franchise as well as their classic princess stories, the shop is even more popular.
This one is likely to be high on a lot of children’s wish lists.
This shop would sure help out many residents looking for that all-important birthday or Christmas gift.
Whether it’s a brick-by-brick replica of an underwater city or a tow truck, a LEGO Store promises to have it all.
Another store for the less serious, The Entertainer is the UK’s largest independent toy retailer and offers a great range of toys, games and gadgets.
If it’s a cheap stocking filler you’re after or a life like Star Wars figure, this toy shop has just what you’re looking for.
One of the country’s most popular fashion stores, American clothing store Urban Outfitters has gained a wonderful reputation among shoppers in recent years.
Despite a reputation as a ‘hipster’ clothing store, it’s actually full of fashionable men’s and women’s wear, as well as accessories and home-décor. There are currently more than 25 stores around the UK and it is a popular place for shoppers in any shopping centre.
With more than 100 stores nationwide, Smyths Toys sells a range of toys, as well as baby, outdoor and gaming products.
The closest one to Croydon is the store in Charlton, but if a Smyths was to open in the borough it would certainly be a hit.
MAC offers more than 100 shades of professional quality make-up for all ages, with its lipstick selection proving to be a popular hit.
To stop the women of Croydon having to order it online or making the gruelling visit to visit another store, it just seems logical to have one of our own in Croydon.
