Full line-up for Croydon Christmas lights switch-on revealed

The full line-up for this year’s Croydon Christmas lights switch-on has been revealed by organisers.

Last month, Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew and captain Scott Dann were revealed as the star names pushing the plunger.

Pardew and Dann will be joined by last year’s X Factor finalists Reggie ‘n’ Bollie, at the event on November 17 on North End.

Croydon’s mayor, Councillor Wayne Trakas-Lawlor, will also take to the stage for the countdown.

Crystal Palace boss Alan PardewNow, organisers Croydon Business Improvement District (BID) have revealed details of the entire running order of the day, up until the switch-on, scheduled for 6.15pm.

CBeebies stars Abe Jarman and Jane Deane, who are starring in this year’s pantomime Aladdin at Waddon Leisure Centre, will also make an appearance, as will Crystal Palace’s cheerleaders, the Crystals.

Eagles skipper Scott Dann will join his manager on stageCharacters from children’s TV show PAW Patrol will be whipping up the crowds into a festive spirit.

Dance class favourites, Love2Dance, Swing Out and Shimmy and That Vibe Dance will all be putting their best feet forward during the course of the afternoon, providing displays of ballet, tap, jazz and modern to vintage, retro and belly dancing.

There will be a chance for audience members to show off their dancing skills, with a special Latin Dance Class, organised by The Gym in Purley Way.

X Factor finalists Reggie ‘n’ BollieOther acts due to perform throughout the afternoon include Welsh singer Christopher Haul who has supported Robbie Williams and McFly.

Students from Croydon College – Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing, Cyan Low and Leah Johnson and rapper Ryan Mullen – will also be showcasing their talents.

Croydon-based hip hop funk quintet Everon Goen, songwriter Susie B, soul band Da Groove Station, Croydon Popchoir and the Croydon Salvation Army Band will make appearances.

At around 6.15pm Reggie ‘n’ Bollie will be joined on stage by Pardew, Dann and Cllr Trakas-Lawlor to switch on the lights in North End and 16 adjoining streets.

Additional games, competitions and entertainment will be taking place throughout the day in the Whitgift and Centrale Shopping Centres.

Croydon BID chief executive Matthew Sims said: “This is the tenth consecutive year that we have organised the Croydon Christmas lights switch-on and with all the changes taking place and planned in the town centre, there’s a lot to celebrate this Christmas and we’re hoping that as many people as possible will come along to help get the festive season off to a rousing start.”
