Selco Builders Warehouse about to open new Croydon store

A leading builders’ merchants, Selco, is due to open a new branch in Croydon next week, creating more than 50 jobs in the area.

Selco Builders Warehouse will open its 46th branch in the UK on Monday (December 12) when its new store on Imperial Way opens.

It is the builders’ merchants second branch in the borough, with an existing store located on Mitcham Road.

The majority of staff employed at the new branch have been recruited from the local area while there are still a wide variety of jobs available.

Chris Cunliffe, chief executive of Selco Builders Warehouse, said: “Opening another branch in Croydon will be of great benefit to the local economy and gives people the chance to join a company with fantastic opportunities for career progression.

“The companys recruitment policy has always been to employ those from the local community and that has continued with [the latest] Croydon [store].

“Our aim is to give great career opportunities to people, while allowing them to extend their skillset at the Warehouse company.

“This opening will also provide another boost to tradesmen in and around the Croydon area, as they will be able to enjoy the benefits Selco provides – unrivalled availability, with the widest range of products in stock, as well as excellent customer service and straight trade pricing.”

The Imperial Way store will supply the essentials needed when building a house or carrying out refurbishments, including doors, windows, insulation, roofing, heating, plumbing supplies, lighting, electrical products, kitchens, bathrooms and timber.

As with all other branches, it will offer an in-branch café, trade services, direct-to-site delivery options and van-size parking spaces.

Charlie Astridge, branch manager at Selco’s new Croydon store, said: “We have recruited a very strong, community-based team and we look forward to welcoming new and existing Selco customers.”
