South Norwood pub facing closure after being put up for sale
A pub in South Norwood is facing closure, after the company which runs it placed the premises on the market.
Staff at The Beehive, on Woodside Green in South Norwood, have been made aware the pub has been put up for sale.
However, when the Advertiser phoned the pub for a comment a spokeswoman for The Beehive said she wasn’t allowed to comment and added all enquiries should be made to Mitchells and Butlers – the company which runs the pub.
When asked about the plans for The Beehive, a spokeswoman for Mitchells and Butlers said: “We constantly review our estate and from time to time take the decision to sell a business.
“We can confirm we are selling the Beehive and are currently in consultation with the team.”
It is not yet known when the pub will close as part of the sale.
It is also not known if the building could continue to be run by a different pub chain or if other plans could come forward for the site.
In recent years the pub has had a number of different landlords and in 2010 plans to convert The Beehive into eight houses and four flats were rejected by Croydon Council.
