The babysitting service with a difference that’s about to be launched in Croydon
A new babysitting service is launching in Croydon on Thursday (October 12) that allows you to book a babysitter at short notice via an app.
Having already launched in central London, where it has gained a following of 10,000 parents, the Bubble app is now being rolled out elsewhere.
The company says that it is proving most popular with working mothers who want to get their children looked after when they are working late.
It works like Deliveroo for babysitters. You can order a vetted babysitter like you would a pizza.
Bubble charges a £3.50 booking fee, which is where it makes its money.
Babysitters can sign up for free and set their own rates.
The app shows both the parents and the babysitters if they are connected through mutual friends.
A two-way rating system works in the same way as Uber’s driver ratings – if parents try anything cheeky, like adding friends’ kids at the last minute, or failing to mention that the kids are sick, then the babysitter can let other babysitters know.
Equally parents can see the background of babysitters and their ratings too.
Co-founder, Ari Last, said: “We want Bubble to give transparency and an amazing service not only to parents, but babysitters too, and rating and reviews are a great tool to use.”
Parents can pay through the app, which “gets rid of the hassle of finding change at the end of the night”.
There are two versions, an express version and a normal scheduling service.
The Express Book version allows you to book a babysitter giving less than two days’ notice, so you can still go out for last minute drinks that you otherwise would be forced to miss if you have kids.
