And, ahead of Friday’s grand opening, we have been given an exclusive first look around the store.
The doors are expected to officially open to the public for the first time at 9am tomorrow (Friday), with the mayor of Croydon, Bernadette Khan, on hand to cut the ribbon.
It’s expected people will queue from the early hours to be one of the first to look inside the store, and the company are making it worth everyone’s while.
That’s because the first 50 people through the doors will have the chance to win what the store is calling “fabulous giveaways”.

But even if you’re not at the front of the queue, there will be a selection of “one off” deals available on certain items throughout the opening weekend.
You will also get 20 per cent off when you spend £5 in the café between November 23 and December 9.
As well as the Dee Dee’s Family Café, the store boasts a mezzanine and a large outdoor garden centre selling a wide selection of real Christmas trees.
More than 80 jobs have been created at the Croydon store, including full and part-time roles, in a wide variety of positions – from store and department managers, to warehouse assistants and retail administrators.
The news is welcome after the town lost a source of employment when DIY chain Homebase shut.
What is The Range?
A home, leisure and gardening retailer, The Range has proved popular by trying to offer value for money products.
There are more than 160 branches of The Range across the UK and Ireland.
The Range has 16 different departments across its stores and sells more than 65,000 products at “good value prices”, including homeware, furniture, garden, textiles, arts and crafts and DIY.
The brand began life as the brainchild of founder Chris Dawson, who used to run a market stall.
He opened his first store in 1989 in Plymouth, under the name CDS (Chris Dawson Superstores) and has continued to expand since.
Before the Croydon store opened, the current closes branches are at Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, Enfield and Tunbridge Wells.
Mr Dawson is pleased to be opening a shop in Croydon.
He said: “This site has been on the radar for some time and we are delighted to replace the former Homebase with a new national retailer in the town.
“We are very lucky with the staff we have, and I look forward to welcoming the new team members to the company.”
