Over the year there are a range of activities and events that takeplace regularly in Croydon. Here is a selection:

The Tuesday Night Music Club alternates between shows in Coulsdon and Hooley. Capacity is limited and the nights often sell out.

Stanley’s Film Club shows a wide range of films and documentaries on the first Wednesday of every month at Stanley Halls in South Norwood.

Ping! Table tennis will return for two months this summer from mid-July onwards. For the third year running, free tables will be set out at twenty locations around the borough.

Croydon Comedy Festival: Special Features  are comedy nights running at venues around Croydon run by the people who brought the comedy festival to Croydon over the last two years.

Croydon Airport Visitor Centre  is open on the first Sunday of the month, every month, throughout the year. There are additional Open Days for special events at various other times. Doors open at 11.00 and close at 16.00 with last entry at 15.15. Britain’s first international airporty terminal and the world’s oldest air traffic control tower, the base for Britain’s first national airline, and the place where the ‘Mayday’ distress signal was invented.

Shirley Windmill is one of only four windmills open to the public in Greater London, and one of the last windmills to be built. It is open on published dates between May and October. Details on the windmill’s web page.

CROWD will be back in St George’s Walk this summer with a series of free entry evening gigs after the success of their trial event just before Christmas. Dates, times and performers to be confirmed.

Mini Cabaret Festival (various dates)

The festival will run at The Spread Eagle pub throughout May

CycleFest and Tour Series cycle race (18 May)

The pro Cycle Tour and Matrix Women’s Grand Prix will be at the heart of a day of cycle fun.

Addiscombe Carnival (28 May)

The annual carnival takes place in Ashburton Park and is open for all the family to enjoy.



Croydon Summer of Love Festival (17 June)

This year, in Wandle Park, Croydon will be celebrating 50 years since 1967’s iconic happenings.

Croydon Environmental Fair (10 June)

Held in Wandle Park, Croydon’s annual environmental fair bringing together all the borough’s green groups for a day of awareness-raising and community spirit. There will be music in the bandstand, food, a bar, retailers, and children’s activities.

New Addington Carnival (10 – 11 June) h

The annual carnival is always a highpoint of the local calendar, with two days of family fun and entertainment.

Crystal Palace Overground Festival (12 – 18 June)

The Crystal Palace Overground Festival is a mainly free community arts and culture festival run by a team of dedicated volunteers. The festival was launched in 2006 and has gone from strength to strength with over 10,000 people attending the 2015 event.

Croydon Big Lunch (18 June)

This year’s event coincides with the remembrance of MP Jo Cox and it is also father’s day.

Croydon Heritage Festival (24 – 30 June)

Taking place from Saturday 24 June until Friday 30 June, this year’s festival is themed ‘Evolution’, looking at the changing face of Croydon throughout its history as it enters a new and exciting period of growth and renewal for the future.

Purley Festival (26 June – 2 July)

This year’s weekday programme will run from 26-30 June and the weekend event will take place on 1 and 2 July at the Rotary Field in Purley. Attractions lined up for 2017 include a ‘Cinema in the Park’ on Friday 30 June; a silent disco; a climbing wall; street cocktails; and walk around performance artists – in addition to a kids’ area and three distinct stages of entertainment.



South Norwood Community Festival (2 July)

South Norwood Community Festival is a free family event a few minute’s walk from Norwood Junction station. Organised for the Community by volunteers allowing local charities to raise money at the event, SNCF 2017 has a fun zone, music of all kinds, food of every description, and a varied programme of events throughout the week.

Folk and Blues Festival (Date TBC)

Every summer the annual Folk and Blues Festival is held in the grounds of Ruskin House. The festival features many of the regular musicians who play at the Sunday evening club as well as guest performers.

Croydon Pride (15 July)

Croydon’s Pride event will this year be moving to the The Queen’s Gardens, with other fun planned for Boxpark.

Race for Life 10k run (16 July)

Lloyd Park will once again host the popular Race for Life 10k charity run

International Playwriting Festival (DATE TBC)

Running since 1986, the festival attracted entries from across the world.





Croydon OKTOBERFEST (27 – 28 October)

Subject to licence, the world famous Oktoberfest is planning to come to Croydon for a huge weekend of traditional Bavarian entertainment, food and drink. The most important date of Germany’s cultural calendar arrives in Croydon this year for the very first time.
