Tom Nathan is the Leasing Manager for new retail at Hammerson, who create vibrant, continually evolving spaces, in and around thriving European cities, with a focus on flagship retail destinations and Premium Outlets. Formerly a senior buyer and manager at M&S and General Manager at Brent Cross, Tom’s vast and varied experience gives him a deep and unique insight to the industry. At Hammerson, Tom’s role is to find exciting businesses to take space in the portfolio, be they international, start-ups and online. On the night, Tom will be talking about whether shopping in shops is dead.

Who is Tom Nathan?
Tom Nathan is Leasing Manager for new retail at Hammerson, who create vibrant, continually evolving spaces, in and around thriving European cities, with a focus on flagship retail destinations and Premium Outlets. With 22 years at M&S, he at Marble Arch before moving into a Head Office buying role working in key departments, including his last buying role in Blouses and Dresses, leading a department of 100 people. He then looked after the European division clothing business in 8 countries abroad. After leaving M&S, he joined Hammerson as GM of Brent Cross Shopping Centre. He also opened Highcross in Leicester with Hammerson in 2008. Tom has a wealth of experience from over a 40 year career spent in retail.

Tom Nathan is Leasing Manager for new retail at Hammerson.
He started with a Saturday job selling shoes before his first role with M&S where he stayed for 22 years. He started at Marble Arch, which was regarded as the ‘university of retail’ at the time, before moving into a Head Office buying role working in key departments before his last buying role in Blouses and Dresses, leading a department of 100 people.
After leaving M&S, he joined Hammerson as GM of Brent Cross Shopping Centre. He also opened Highcross in Leicester with Hammerson in 2008.
Tom is an experienced retail professional, now working in retail property. Driven by an enjoyment of working with people and commercial challenges. Family comes first and putting back in to our community is important too.
He has been married to Annette for 35 years- she is a carer support social worker. His kids are Adam who is a chef and owns a catering business and his wife Rosie is a marketing director. Aimee his daughter is a junior producer at Fulwell73, a film and TV production company.
