Making Tax Digital – Changes to HMRC’s Tax Return Processes #MTD
MTD is the biggest change to the tax system in a generation. It may affect the self-employed, partnerships, landlords & ltd companies
About this Event
You may have heard that Making Tax Digital (MTD) is being introduced by HMRC from April 2019 for all businesses over the VAT threshold. MTD is the most fundamental change to the administration of the tax system for at least 20 years.
Topics covered in the seminar:
- What the changes are
- How you are affected
- What systems you can put in place
- Paper records will no longer be sufficient – what are your options?
- The future changes
Who the seminar is relevant for:
- All businesses who have a turnover over the VAT threshold (currently £85,000)
- Owner managed businesses
The end game is for MTD to cover all areas of tax in the UK, however it is being introduced in stages and the first stage is only a few months away…
We are delighted to be joined by Matthew Baker of Champs Consultants and our Free Agent partners for our ‘Making Tax Digital’ event this coming Feb.
Matthew Baker is one of the principal owners of Champ Consultants, award winning accountants and tax advisers based in Caterham. Matthew qualified in the 1990s whilst working in the retail and distribution industry and has lots of experience in dealing with business software, international trade, complex stock and supply chain issues and business controls for companies experiencing change. Matthew co-hosts a weekly business radio show on Ridge Radio on Friday mornings aimed at start-up and entrepreneurial businesses.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from and speak with our colleagues from Freeagent, who are one of the small number of HMRC approved accounting software providers for MTD tax returns. All NatWest business customers can receive Freeagent free of charge (usually £29 + VAT per month) for the lifetime of their business relationship with NatWest, so please speak with me if this is of interest to you.
